Bio
Mesha Kussman (Director/Choreographer/Performer) was born and raised in San Francisco's Haight Ashbury. She started dancing at the age of five and danced her way through a BFA from the Experimental Theater Wing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Mesha has studied tap, ballet, gymnastics, Balinese, Afro-haitian, belly dancing, hip hop and swing. Her choreography spans from stage to commercials, visual effects and film to fashion shows. She has created advertisements for Kellogg's, American Apparel, Clothing Of The American Mind and ELOPE. Mesha's style has been recognized for it's innovative combination of live performance and film by LA Weekly, the East Bay Express and The Village Voice. Her multi-media pieces include Club Zig Zag, a musical by Emmy-nominated writer Jordan Allen-Dutton and composer Spencer Day (Universal Music), and EARTHLINGS, which features painted nude models and video animation and premiered at Eco Nouveau - a green fashion event 2007. In New York, Mesha has worked with accomplished stage directors Annie-B Parson (Big Dance) and Michael Counts (Formerly GAle GAtes). Her original dance-theater works include: Brass Logic, a modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland set inside the landscape of a video game, BAZAAR, a musical chronicling the history of women's fashion over the 20th century, and CRASH, a dance project sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Mesha is also the creator of a new form of movement called Danceyoga™. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
